How to advocate for yourself as a DV/SA Survivor

How to advocate for yourself as a DV/SA Survivor

On February 27 from 6-9 pm we are hosting a special training virtually, and in-person, to help crime victims know how to navigate the court database, request copies of their police reports and understand how the criminal justice system works.

The event will especially focus on helping survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault advocate for themselves in the system and understand what’s happening in their cases.

RSVP here and let us know if you will tune in online over Zoom or in-person at Utah Tech University in St. George.

Training will be conducted in partnership with Justin Boardman of Boardman Training & Consulting. Boardman is a retired detective from the West Valley City Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, where he conducted over 140 adult sexual assault victim interviews. He is a recognized expert on trauma-informed and victim-centered investigations and has been an advocate for cultural change when it comes to investigating and prosecuting sexual assault cases. In 2015 he received the Visionary Voice Award from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and in 2017 the Utah Council on Victims of Crime Public Policy Award.

We hope to see you there and encourage you to share this info with anyone who might be interested in this free training.
