Public help needed identifying suspects from video for SLC Cold Case

The Utah Investigative Journalism Project has obtained video of two suspects of a hotel robbery in Draper, on October 11, 2021, who may have knowledge of the murder of Joseph Salas.

The Utah Investigative Journalism Project reported on Salas’ death this summer in an article exploring the lack of trust between Salt Lake City’s unsheltered population and the Salt Lake City Police Department and how that may have complicated the investigation into Salas’ murder.

In further investigation, we found relevant videos about two individuals who may have knowledge of the killing. The two unidentified suspects in the videos below are alleged to have robbed a hotel room at the Homewood Suites in Draper on October 11, 2021. The individuals paid for the hotel room using a credit card that belonged to Salas, who had been murdered four months earlier.

The suspects can be seen loading stolen items into what appears to be an early ’90s, green Dodge Durango.

If you recognize the individuals in the videos please reach out to the Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000 or private investigator Jason Jensen, who is helping the family, at 801-759-2248.
